The Galápagos Ecological Airport is the main gateway to the Galápagos Islands. Over the years, we have been recognized by various organizations worldwide for our high standards in the execution of environmental projects, positioning us as the World’s First Ecological Airport.
Our airport has been recognized for its construction, operation, management, and service by various organizations, which motivates us to continue strengthening our philosophy in alignment with our mission and vision.

Our airport received the highest certification currently available to recognize sustainable buildings. On November 20, 2014, the U.S. Green Building Council – USGBC (United States Green Building Council) awarded us the LEED Gold Level certification, making us the first in the world to obtain it as a complete building.

In 2017, we achieved the Carbon Neutral accreditation awarded by the Airports Council International (ACI) through the Airport Carbon Accreditation program, becoming the first in Latin America and the Caribbean to obtain it. Thanks to our protocols, we renew this certification annually.

On March 9, 2019, we were winners of the “ASQ Service Quality Awards” granted by Airports Council International (ACI), becoming the best airport in the region in the category of fewer than two million passengers, after being recognized by our users as the best.

In 2022, we were recognized as one of the “Best Places to Work for Women in Ecuador 2022”, awarded by Great Place to Work Ecuador.

Our airport was included in the ranking of “Best Places to Work in Ecuador – 2022 Edition”, conducted by the international consulting firm Great Place to Work.

On June 16, 2020, we were awarded the certificate under the ISO 14001:2015 standard, bearing the SGS seal and accredited by the National Accreditation Board (ANAB), which establishes the most comprehensive Environmental Management System (EMS) in place to date.

In 2018, our airport was recognized by BID Invest as a “Employer of Choice” after being assessed through the Gender Enterprise Tool (WEP). More than 50% of our workforce is female.
